Dream with Maugean Skate ~ This unique sea creature is found only in Macquarie Harbour, located in the south-west of Tasmania.
 
Key Facts about the Maugean Skate:
Habitat: Macquarie Harbour, Tasmania. 
Conservation Status: Endangered. 
Unique Features: Only skate species known to live exclusively in brackish estuarine waters. 
Threats: Degradation of water quality, particularly low dissolved oxygen levels in Macquarie Harbour. 
Conservation Efforts: The Maugean Skate Recovery Team was established by the Australian and Tasmanian governments to develop and coordinate conservation efforts. 
Research: The Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) at the University of Tasmania has been studying the species and its habitat.
