Empress at Forbidden City II - Cixi, Power Behind the Throne

Cixi, the most powerful and successful monarch during the Qing Dynasty. A female ruler that has rule China for almost 50 years.

This piece of wearable art is to pay homage to the powerful figure Cixi. Using over 50 plastic shopping bags, bubble wraps, plastic bottles and over 20,000 beads and sequences were use to create this ensemble. The shoes base were made using wood and various material.

Cixi, created for the debut of Australian Wearable Art competition 2019 in Queensland was awarded:
